Weekly Parent Update - Friday 17th January
It was a great start to the week to see our Year 2s turning up to school in costume, ready for their Great Fire of London workshops.
Weekly Update from Mr Meehan
It was a great start to the week to see our Year 2s turning up to school in costume, ready for their Great Fire of London workshops. I know how much they enjoyed bringing their understanding of history alive in these workshops!
Monday also saw the ‘opening’ of our infant playground mud kitchen, as part of our OPAL developments. Miss Connolly, our infant play leader, has reported that the children have been enjoying themselves and remembering the rules we have outlined for this play activity. We will have further OPAL updates as the term goes on.
It was wonderful to welcome back Bob Hartman to the school yesterday at both the infants and juniors, with his energetic story telling style, bringing Bible stories alive with actions and songs. As the writer of the ‘Open the Book’ materials, which always forms the basis of our collective worship on Thursdays, it was great for Bob to see our volunteer ‘Open the Book’ actors in action as part of the day.
A big well done also to Lynx class, who shared their class worship with us yesterday afternoon. It was the first class worship of 2025, and it was a creative one; the children entertained and educated us with confident enthusiasm. While visiting a car show in Salford we saw a human circuit being formed, and the several injuries that occurred were dealt with swiftly by the Lynx first responders, demonstrating their knowledge of first aid.
Our Year 3 footballers took part in a football tournament on Wednesday, representing our school really well with some great football and sportsmanship. They played 3 tough games, lost 2 and won 1 but scored some amazing goals in every game.
Thank you to those who joined us for our first tea and cake evening for parents of children with SEN this week. If you missed this one (or just want to come again!), we are holding our next one later in the term on 14th March, at the juniors.
Lime Grove traffic survey launch
We know that traffic around our school sites is an ongoing concern. Whilst this can be an issue at both sites, we are currently focusing on the Infant Site in Lime Grove. We are working with the council and residents to find possible solutions to ease traffic congestion. We would love to hear your views, particularly if you are a parent of an infant child, and this will really help our discussions with councillors and residents. Please access the survey being emailed today.
I do hope you and your family have a lovely weekend.
