Weekly Parent Update - Friday 14th June
Our Year 6 pupils travelled to Parliament this week - very topical at the current time!
Weekly Update from Mr Meehan
Firstly, a huge thank you to the PTA for our Summer Fair last Saturday; we are pleased to announce that we raised at least £9740, and this puts us well on the way to meet our target for the redevelopment of the junior playground plans. This is very exciting! We’ll go on raising funds through the rest of this term, including today’s Break the Rules day, where again the children have been very creative with their rule-breaking. I am grateful to those who have given a lot of time and energy to make this fundraising happen.
As always, there’s been some great learning going on during this week in and out of the classroom, including the junior orienteering day on Tuesday over on our playing field led by Mrs Burkinshaw. Our reception children also very much enjoyed their trip to Wimbledon fire station on Tuesday, and I heard all about it when I led story time with them at the end of the day. Our Year 6 pupils also travelled to Parliament this week - very topical at the current time!
At the juniors, we will soon be having our own ‘mini-election’ as we will be shortlisting prospective Year 5 candidates for next year’s position of Pupil Leaders, with candidates launching their own manifesto speeches later in the term.
In staff news, we will be sad to say goodbye to Mrs Parkes at the end of this term. We thank her for all her work as part of our school office team over this year and we wish her well for the future. You will see below our advert for this role, which we are advertising from today.
Next week is our Science Week, which we are also very excited about! Please be reminded it is a four-day week for the children, as it is an INSET day next Friday. We will be cramming in all our science activities over these four days, starting with an exciting science show on Monday for all classes.
Just saying … it’s also National Thank a Teacher Day next Wednesday - see below for more details!
In the meantime, have a great weekend.
