Weekly Parent Update - Friday 15th November
On Monday, our PLT children led us in getting started in Anti-Bullying Week, in leading assemblies at both infants and juniors.
Weekly Update from Mr Meehan
The week started well this week on Sunday, with our school taking part in the New Malden Remembrance Parade. We had some of our Year 6 children taking part, including those in the parade and laying the Christ Church wreath. The parade was followed by a service around the New Malden war memorial.
Following this, it was lovely to start our week together back in school on Monday marking Remembrance at both sites, with our own Mr Bartlett on hand to play for us The Last Post. On Monday, our PLT children also led us in getting started in Anti-Bullying Week, in leading assemblies at both infants and juniors. There was a fantastic array of Odd Socks on Tuesday too.
The children were looking even smarter than normal on Wednesday - it must have been photo day! There were lots of smiles, extra smart uniforms and freshly-combed hair.
Thank you to parents who have been attending our phonics workshops run by Mrs Honeybone in recent weeks; we are keen to support you in supporting your children in gaining the most important life skill of reading. On a related note, with our new scheme books that we only purchased earlier this year, please do ensure all books are returned to us promptly, so all children can benefit from each book.
It’s been a week of football this week, with infant and junior children participating in various inter-school events, with lots of success! Some of our Year 6 boys played their district cup match on Tuesday evening, advancing to the next round on penalties. They then played the Kingston Borough competition on Wednesday morning and reached the semi finals, losing in a very close game. Also yesterday morning, some of our Year 2 boys took part in a football festival; playing 6 games, resulting in 4 wins and 2 draws. Well done everyone!
We are holding our autumn term ‘Learning Look’ next Thursday 21st November between 3.30pm and 4.30pm, so we look forward to seeing you; come and see all that your children have been up to, by having a look at their books and in their classrooms. Let them show off and show you around!
We welcome two new staff members to our team next week, which we are excited about. Mrs Underwood joins our teaching team, as a maths teacher in Years 5 and 6, and Miss Lo joins our Connect staff team.
I hope you and your family have a great weekend.
