This week has been a very active week! There was a great buzz in Year 1, as we played our first competitive football matches. We won 2:0 against Corpus Christi and drew 1:1 against Coombe Hill. Everyone looked very smart in their kits and had a great time! Twenty two Year 5 children (Gazelle class) also engaged in bikeability lessons, even venturing onto the roads, suitably dressed in bright high visibility jackets. Next week it is Antelope class’ turn. Each of these activities are a lovely sign of returning to normality once more.

Keeping everyone safe

We really welcome the reassurance that the number of cases is reducing and the hope of removal of restrictions. However, we are still experiencing a high number of cases in the school and we wish to minimise any spread. We have therefore decided to continue with the use of masks in our communal spaces for a little longer and we would encourage adults to do the same at drop off and collection. 

We are also seeing a number of stomach bugs. We will therefore be encouraging everyone to be very vigilant about hand washing. If your child has used their own hand sanitiser in the past, they are welcome to bring some in again.

COVID - Current Isolation Rules 

This change came into effect in England on Monday 17 January and applies to all positive cases, regardless of vaccination status.

People who are self-isolating with COVID-19 have the option to reduce their isolation period after 5 full days if they test negative with an LFD test on both day 5 and day 6 and they do not have a temperature. For example, if they test negative on the morning of day 5 and the morning of day 6, they can return to their education or childcare setting immediately on day 6.

The first test must be taken no earlier than day 5 of the self-isolation period, and the second must be taken the following day. All test results should be reported to NHS Test and Trace.

If the result of either test is positive, they should continue to self-isolate until they get negative results from two LFD tests on consecutive days or until they have completed 10 full days of self-isolation, whichever is earliest.

Anyone who is unable to take LFD tests or anyone who continues to have a temperature will need to complete the full 10-day period of self-isolation.

E.g. If your child tested positive on Monday but tests negative on Saturday and Sunday then they can return to school the following Monday.

Micropigs Weekend Care

We still need parent volunteers to feed our pigs at the weekends, as our rota currently has a lot of empty spaces.  If you can help, please let the office know.
