Special Educational Needs and Disabilities

At Christ Church New Malden, we believe that every child is unique and has the potential to flourish in a supportive and inclusive learning environment - becoming the person God made them to be. Our support for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) is dedicated to ensuring that every child receives the personalised support they need to achieve their full potential.

What is SEND?

SEND stands for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities, and it encompasses a wide range of learning differences and challenges that some children may face. These can include difficulties with learning, communication, behaviour, or physical and sensory needs. Our SEN program is designed to identify and address these needs through tailored support and interventions, allowing every child to access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

At Christ Church New Malden, we are committed to creating an inclusive and welcoming atmosphere where every child feels valued and supported. Our SEN program is an integral part of this commitment, ensuring that children with diverse learning needs are given the tools and resources to succeed. We believe in fostering an environment that celebrates differences and encourages a sense of belonging for all.

Key Features of Our SEND Support
  • Individualised Support: Each child is unique, and our SENDCOs works closely with teachers, parents, and other professionals to create personalised support plans tailored to the specific needs of each child with SEND.
  • Inclusive Classrooms: We promote inclusive practices in our classrooms through quality first teaching, providing additional support and accommodations to ensure that all children can actively participate in lessons and activities.
  • Working with Families: We recognize the importance of a strong partnership between the school and families. Our SENDCOs maintains open communication with parents of children with SEND, involving them in the decision-making process and providing resources to support their child's learning at home.
  • Specialist Support Services: For children with more complex needs, we offer access to specialist support services, including speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and counselling.
Get Involved!

We encourage parents, guardians, and children to actively participate in the SEN program at Christ Church. Whether you have questions, suggestions, or want to learn more about how we can support your child, we are here to help you.

Thank you for being a part of our inclusive community at Christ Church New Malden, where we strive to empower every student to reach their full potential, regardless of their unique learning journey.
